proper post perhaps

Ah! Photos are always well-received! I should try to put up more next time right! Found out how to do it fast ... finally!

Right, i'm trying to be reflective now. It's been a month since i left sunny singapore behind. So much has happened, but essentially nothing has changed. Just joined the hoardes of international students here.. student migration. I would think London has been kind to me so far, the weather hasn't been that very bad (YET), i have a room mate who eats rice and chinese food and we get along, i live 10 minutes away from school, 10 minutes away from covent garden, 15 minutes away from chinatown and leicester square, oxford street . They've got fantastic fashion boutiques in covent garden.... imagine.. zara, marks and spencer, miss sixty etc etc are just 5 to 10 min walk away. Endles endless eateries etc etc. In short, if i have the money, boy would i go bonkers down here! That's just to give you a general feel of the area i'm living in.

So far, life has pretty much revolved around school... the few hours of school i have a week. But of course there is work to be done, readings to be read, lots of independency really... you do as much as you want. I havent been making foreign friends still! Sure hope it's still early thats why. There are endless careers talks and company fairs etc etc... public lectures everyday, some big shot visits the LSE. There is so much going on here besides just studies!

Just now, i was talking to mummy on the phone and she was telling me about.. ya know not going back during summer of year 2... if i could secure an internship here, i would be glad! But pretty scary thought not going home for SO long and not seeing family and friends! And about sending jie and vera here to visit me in year 2. Sorry, that's so random but if you could project what's gonna happen next time... means you're rather settled in? I dont know... but i'm fine definitely! It just strikes me sometimes ...that i'm here finally after so long, almost settled in and leading this new life on my own. But remaining very connected with you guys at home through MSN, emails... keep them coming in yeah! Finally understood the importance of MSN. Haha.

Oh yes, in other news... when we were on the boat right... we passed by this place "greenwich"... some GMT thing.. the official time? It's like this greeen laser that shoots across the sky... so after you pass that time zone.. you are either one hour behind or ahead. Cool stuff ! Couldnt really capture it on camera though, pity. From this sunday onwards, London will be 8 hours behind Singapore instead of the seven now... daylight saving they call it.

There are still places i haven't visited here, things i haven't done. Current biggest plan ahead is Italy in december and Scotland over Christmas. And post-christmas sale... can't wait! There is so much more to learn and I can't thank my parents (mummy, daddy, i love you!) enough for allowing me to spread my wings and take off. Studies will still definitely be priority, and i will try very hard not to disappoint!

It's going to be one hell of a ride.. i think!

school work

Oh man, it's been almost 2 hours and i can barely get any of those International relations jargon into my puny head that's stuffed full of so many other thoughts. Just had to VENT. What have i gotten myself into man... choosing IR as option! There are so damn bloody many readings... i'm dying even before classes have officially started. And the math is pretty tough, and the econs is different from what we did. And stats.. my gosh. Boohoohoo. It's so tough! I want to join societies like Volunteering or something, but i think of all the readings and work... how to find time? Doesn't help that i get distracted easily... this sucks! I want to go back to JC when all the notes were nicely printed and organised, when you can afford to not pay full attention in lecture yada yada. There is so much to do but yet i feel constrained by school work... i've got to find a way to work round this man. Stress...

streets of canterbury

Canterbury!

I've given up on the idea of sending photos via email. So next time, photos will be available via here again! Cos, emails bounce sometime and i dont' really have an up to date list of everyone's email. (Sorry huimin! It wasnt intentional!) Same idea, i will choose the nicest, momentest pics to put up.

Today, we went to Canterbury! It's a nice little town, the cathedral was super nice! Like, we kept going.. take picture take picture. And because it's a coastal town, we managed to catch the "beach". A pebble beach with no sand. Here are some pics :

better blog before get hantamed

hello! i apologise for the lack of updates! Just that everytime i want to update, something crops up... eg looking for answers online for math etc etc or chatting on msn. Anyway, it's been almost a week since mummy left, and guess what, i'm really adapting to life here now... like fish to water.. okae or maybe... like toddlers to walking (bad analogy but you get the idea! taking baby footsteps, tripping sometimes but that's fine).

Yesterday, i went up to Birmingham with uncle and Allison(my newfound friend) Along the way, we went to Oxford which was nice. Wouldnt say i was overawed by the place but it was very pretty... away from the hustle and bustle of London alas. We kind of saw where Harry Potter was filmed ( u know in episode 1 when they were learning how to fly QUidditch). And we caught the Oxians rowing down Thames... that was interesting! They have so much space gosh while we're so squeezed in London! And we went to Uni of Birmingham as well.. uncle was so excited lah... taking photos everywhere, differnt angles etc etc.. his alma mater... haha, they have indoor swimming pools and all those good sports facilities which we're sorely lacking. Can't be more jealous! We drove all the way which was way cooool, when we were returning to the hotel at night, driving along the expressway at 160km/h (uncle's a really good driver!), the street lights weren't on, they just had reflectors on the road, like driving on the airport runway. That was so fun lah... felt so surreal... it was dark and the trees lining the road were like shadows. It was a good trip out of London, really appreciate it Uncle! U might be reading this, so thanks again :)

Anyway, tonight, i met him for dinner at Bayswater, at this Indian restaurant... authentic Indian restaurant, was great. Im really lucky to be eating good food here..! With the lack of excercise.. i can see where the freshers 15 pounds is going to come from.

School's been pretty slack so far, slightly busy here and there. I want to make more foreign friends but its kinda hard! We'll see how it goes ...I joined modern dance( gasp! stop laughing!) but haven't gone for any lessons yet. And of course singsoc. Should i run for singsoc?? haha. Was thinking of going for yoga as well.. hmm and i'm most probably going to play badminton tmr... hey! i'm going to train hard over here okae! Not sure if should join singsoc netball, but my netball sucks so badly...

Did grocery shopping with Steph just now.. we bought lots of stuff to cook, and we're both rather health conscious which helps alot!!! So happy we have no problems getting along :) Good to have a room mate, so it's not so claustrophobic and lonely when u're in the room.

Anyway, i've decided not to post pictures up here anymore! Instead, i'll send like the best photos as an email attachment to you guys. It's too leceh to post it up here!

It's been like a dream so far. There were nightmares, but there were goodmares as well. Living such a different life now, but i'm beginning to see the reason why i came here in the first place. In the first 2 weeks... it was like regret, but now, i see some light. I do hope to make more friends( great friends like u guys :) and enjoy the short time i'll be here. It's been 3 weeks but it feels as if i've been here for so long! There's so much to do here but so little time as always. Thanks for the support you guys, keep bugging me to update, haha! U guys want to hear exciting stuff like whether there are cute guys? Ha, but seriously, i'm still in no mood for that (= the mood will come soon soon), no one has caught my eye YET. Ha, enough of crap. Take care in Singapore, i miss that place so much, it feels so faraway now like i remember how Singapore looks like in every aspect but the feeling's just so distant. Like, i can't imagine physically being at home.

Right, finally updated. Dont' stop visiting my blog okae. Advice is to check once between 5 to 7 days. Haha! You can't get anymore thick-skinned than this can you?
