All I want to say is... i look like a guy

my new haircut SUCKS. Been feeling gloomy and depressed all night. I can't wait for it to grow. Very irritable now. Only way of salvaging it is to wear a hairband. So pissed!!! How am i going to face Peter like this??? It's just slightly short of hideous. I want hair extensions!!!

Going to cry myself to sleep. BAH!!!

Bot Gardens

Bot gardens is bad by the way. The swan lake has been reduced to like half its old size, spotted less than 5 swans. Reconstruction on-going = mud along the pavements. The other parts of the park were also boring, the trees don't look as alive as before! What a disappointment! Don't go there until after all the upgrading works are done.

Why so S L O W

Everyday, i look forward to hearing the engine scooters of Mr. Postman, but i'm always disappointed. Why are they taking so long? Getting paranoid, what if they forgot about me and didn't register me as a student, that's why the letter is not coming! The wait is excruciating! ( screams and tears hair apart!) Speaking of which i'm going to CUT my hair. I might be trying something drastic. And if it doesn't work out, at least there are still 2 more months for my hair to recover before i go over. Haha, wouldn't want to start school with a BAD hair over there.

Chanced upon the RJ website with a list of scholars. Couldn't believe it, there are approx 60 overseas scholars a year. That's a hell lot of people! Tried to find the HC one but the website is so unfriendly. Bah, but my guess is that there are probably much less than RJ. Still, i'm one of those pigs going on my parent's money because i'm too lousy to get a scholarship. Spent quite alot of money so far, on shoes and clothes and schoolbag. And then there's the question of buying a giant luggage to fit the infinte things i have to bring over. Prices are sky-high man, the average for a big luggage (30 inches) is about $250. It's so stressful to think of the amount we have to spend even before going there. And then there's the laptop, fresh supply of contact lenses etc etc etc etc etc. Argh.

My uncle was telling me about his travelling days in Europe and it sounds damn good! He took the Inter-rail, this train that runs round Europe, so he paid 150 pounds ( that's more than 10 yers ago) for unlimited travel in one month. So, he went to Austria, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Switzerland and Italy all in one month. Ah... i can't wait! But still i have to, probably have to wait till year 2 to do that though. When i'm more settled and familiar with everything. So much for all these glorious places to go and things to do... what if i can't even make good friends there? I can just imagine myself morphing into an anti-social creature, home-sick everyday. Cravings for ba zhang ( i think i'm becoming an adult now because i like ba zhang more than nonya zhang, haha, though removing fats is still a CHORE), ba kwa, bao, mooncake, durian puff and all things LOCAL.

Read in the papers that there's going to be a Singapore style Kopitiam in Chinatown there by next Chinese new year so that makes me REALLY excited. At last, some decent food there. Oh yeah, there's a more decent eating place called Basewater in London (making mental note), better quality and lower prices compared to Chinatown which is pretty much touristy so they tend to charge higher prices.

Anyway, Peter's first match is on Wednesday at 9 30 am at Court 4. On top of that, we need to know which hotel he is staying at. Who has any insider info?

Highly annoyed

Just ate 3/4 tub of Haagen Dazs Cookies and Cream and it ranks on my No. 1 list of Worst Haagen Dazs flavours. Close second would be tiramisu. Yuck. I'm So disappointed. It tastes like Magnolia or Walls ice-cream. And the whole thing didn't have an ice cream texture at all. It was icicle-like. I don't know what's wrong with it! Decided to be nice and finish all the ice cream so the rest of family wouldnt have to eat that bad tasting thing. Most disappointing Haagen Dazs EVER. I thought it tasted more like Cookies and Coconut Cream. Or Cookies and Coconut. Annoyed, Annoyed, Annoyed! Feeling like a giant Cookies and Coconut icicle ball now. Yuck.

OH OH!

AH! It's been two weeks and i haven't updated! But frankly, there is nothing worth updating about except for some movies i watched, some of my dangerous driving habits, my DISGUSTING parking (i need like 2 lots to park, and i don't dare to park near lorries/vans/pick-ups for fear they'll hit my car... and my car is NEVER straight after i finish parking... but i don't really care... forbid the day when i'm forced to do parallel parking!). Yeah, in short, my life is just DAMN boring. But, i decided to update anyway and bore you with more of my boring life because i fear the day no one reads this anymore! Imagine, it'll be so sad me talking to myself. So yes, i don't want to lose YOU the reader! haha :)

Anyway, i seldom mention about good books but i've found a real polished gem in "Battle Royale" by Koushun Takami. It's really simply darn good. So, if you have about $28 to spare, get this book! It's about this group of 42 students (15 year olds) thrown onto a deserted island and forced to kill each other, only one survivor will emerge. Each of them is given a different weapon so it makes it more exciting! And plus, forbidden zones are announced every two hours so the students are forced to be always on the move, if they are caught in the forbidden zone, BAM, they'll get killed (= even more exciting!). Shall not divulge too much here... Hope i didn't make it sound too ordinary else it wouldnt do justice to the book. Really one of the BEST i've read. It's different from Western writers, refreshing :)

In other news, signed up for this camp facilitator thing with ping and we'll be "attachees" (learning the ropes) next monday which is also when Aviva Open starts. And yes, GADE is coming! I can't wait :) Hey, let's make "GADE, I Love You" Banners! Hopefully we'll catch his attention and he'll come over to thank us after he wins his match( yeah, all our love does wonders). And then we can fulfill our childhood dreams of shaking his sweaty hand and taking that Prized photograph. Wheee!

3 months count-down to London. And nothing has sunk in yet. I'm leaving? What? I'm prepared? No? Bleargh, still clueless about many things. And the school has yet to send me anything about when i can move into hostel( so i can book air tickets), readings and registration etc. I guess it's still too early so i don't feel anything. Wish they'd hurry send me some information so i don't feel so lost in space.

Perhaps it'll start to sink in in August, mad rush to pack my stuffs, i'm sure i'll forget to bring something no matter how detailed my packing list is. Sigh, really worried about EATING there. Their food is low-quality and expensive= i have to cook. My cousin who holidayed there paid 2 pounds ($6) for a bowl of rice, how unreasonable. In these kinda circumstances, i'd rather STARVE than to eat out. It really depends on which hostel they decide to give me. If i get a catered hall, wouldnt have to worry too much about cooking but if i get a self-catering hall... oh oh. And, it depends on what kinda room mates/house mates i get, what if they're unfriendly or have super different eating habits(how are we going to accomodate each other?), worst, what if they're on a different wavelength/frequency (like Vee says, they don't find what you say funny- i'll hide in my room and CRY!). Worst of all, what if they can't even understand what i'm saying? It's so hard to get rid of my Singaporean accent lah. In some ways, we the international students will be perceived by them, like how we Singaporeans perceive the PRCs, ASEAN ... scholars. There'll be some form of segregation and that defeats the whole purpose really. But, that's inevitable, they judge you by your skin colour. Not really about racism, as in you don't despise people of other races but, more about sticking to your own kind, finding comfort in that. Ah, i'll go experience that first hand and see how it goes, hopefully i get really nice and easy going house/roommates.

Lately, my head has been filled with thoughts of food, especially when i get out of the house. Always on the munch . . . And when i'm at home, like yesterday, there was ice cream, biscuits, cuttlefish, sugar peanuts, DURIAN. Much as i enjoy eating, i wish there were more interesting things to do and places to go! Recommendations any? What about Botanical gardens, i'm not big on nature but they've spruced it up recently so it might be worth a visit? Where else besides town, marina area is there to go? (throws hands up in exasperation)...

Hurry Hurry

Yes! I got Rafeal Chua's lesson! Paid $75.60 for his lesson lah... highest ever i paid for a lesson OUCH* Mr. Chua! Teach me more more more! And somebody! ANYBODY! Go buy my 4.40pm lesson please! Like NOW!

Shudders

Gasp. Lesson with Rafeal Chua was pretty good, except that my driving sucked. And i'm getting the jitters AGAIN. As a result, i booked another lesson for today ... (reason for my waking up so early at the unearthly hour of 7am on a Saturday). Couldn't fix him though but damn... i need to drive MORE MORE MORE! I get sick when i step into the driving school... the smell the instructors the circuit... the testers all make me feel nauseous. Monday is coming real soon and i do wish Monday would be the last i'd see of that place... Ever. 3rd time lucky? Please please!

I was actually getting superstitious and didn't want to blog about this whole driving thing... but i can't take it! needed to like spit everything out. Driving is all-consuming and i'm drained. Stop thinking about driving. Stop Stop! Monday is 2 days away... no? Ahhhhhhhhh!
